Natural Turquoise: A Forever Piece of Timeless Style

When it comes to turquoise, it is never out of the jewellery trend spotlight for very long. Ralph Lauren has included turquoise in his collections year after year, proving that some stones effortlessly surpass trends.

It has always been a gemstone I’ve loved. There is something about its timeless, natural beauty and well-understood intrinsic value that makes it endlessly appealing.

When sourcing turquoise, I only use natural turquoise. There are many “pretenders” out there, where generic stones have been dyed to resemble turquoise, but for me, nothing compares to the beauty and individuality of the real thing.

The Story Behind Turquoise

The name turquoise actually means “Turkish stone”, because the trade route that first brought it into Europe travelled through Turkey.

Turquoise occurs in a vast range of colours, from the familiar bright sky blue through to deeper greens with beautiful black and brown markings. These colour variations come from minerals naturally formed within the stone and are unique to the location where the turquoise developed.

I love these natural differences and spend a lot of time sourcing the deeper green-blue shades in particular.

The Brigitte Natural Turquoise Necklace

The new Brigitte natural turquoise necklace has been created using beautiful natural turquoise, with a wonderful mix of blue-greens, browns and black running through the stones.

I designed it to be worn with the Smokey Quartz dropper, enhancing the deeper browns and greens found within the turquoise while making the necklace wonderfully versatile.

The Brigitte can be worn in two different ways.

For daytime, I would wear the stones to the front with the clasp at the back and without the dropper for a simpler look. Then, for greater impact, I would move the clasp and detachable Smokey Quartz dropper to the front, creating a bolder statement for evening or special occasions.

How I Style Turquoise

I love wearing turquoise with a shirt and jeans to instantly elevate an everyday outfit into something more individual and incredibly stylish.

The beauty of a natural turquoise necklace is that the stone naturally takes centre stage. Because of that, I like to pair the Brigitte with simple silver pieces that complement rather than compete with it.

Sometimes the strongest styling comes from keeping things simple.

A Forever Piece

For me, turquoise is a forever piece.

It never goes out of fashion and will always be appreciated for its natural beauty, individuality and timeless appeal.
